Itinerary

Day 1: Overnight Transfer from Delhi / Chandigarh to Shimla
Board your overnight vehicle from Delhi or Chandigarh and begin the journey towards the Himalayas.

Day 2: Shimla to Chitkul via Sangla & Rakcham
• Scenic drive via Kufri, Narkanda, and Karcham Dam
• Tea break at Rakcham with panoramic snow views
• Reach Chitkul – India’s last inhabited village before the Indo-Tibet border
• Sunset walk by the frozen Baspa River
• Overnight stay in a wooden homestay

Day 3: Chitkul to Tabo via Nako & Khab Sangam
• Visit the beautiful Nako Lake (partially frozen)
• Stop at Khab Sangam – confluence of Sutlej and Spiti rivers
• Reach Tabo by evening, optional monastery visit
• Overnight at a cozy guesthouse

Day 4: Tabo to Kaza via Dhankar Monastery

  1. Is Chitkul open in winter?
    Yes. Chitkul is accessible until heavy snow blocks the road beyond Rakcham (usually late Jan). We monitor weather and adjust accordingly.
  2. How cold does it get in Spiti during this time?
    Expect daytime temperatures between –5°C to 5°C, and nights as cold as –20°C. All our stays are winterised and heated.
  3. What kind of vehicle will be used?
    A 4×4 SUV equipped for snow with experienced mountain drivers and backup support.
  4. Can I travel solo or as a couple?
    Yes. We have fixed group departures and also offer private tours for couples and solo travellers.
  5. Will I see snow during this trip?
    Yes, snow is guaranteed across Chitkul, Rakcham, Nako, Kaza, and Langza during winter months.
  6. Are oxygen cylinders needed for this route?
    Spiti is high altitude, but with gradual acclimatisation and experienced planning, most travellers don’t need oxygen. Backup cylinders are provided on request.
