Why Choose Our Spiti Valley Family Tour Packages

In our every Spiti Valley Family Tour Packages we follow one simple rule. Your family’s comfort decides the plan, not the map. Here is what that actually looks like.

Gradual Acclimatisation First

We almost always start from Shimla — the gradual climb from 2,000 to 4,200 metres over three to four days gives your body time to adjust, preventing most altitude trouble.

Private Cabs Only

You get a private cab sized to your group — Scorpio, Innova, or Tempo Traveller — with the same driver throughout. No shared rides, no strangers.

Stays Families Actually Like

Attached washrooms, heated rooms, family-sized accommodations, and properties right in the village — no steep climbs with luggage.

Flexible Meals

If your kids prefer plain rice and dal, or your parents need less oil and less spice, we pass it to each property in advance. No awkwardness at the buffet.

Shorter Driving Days

Where generic itineraries push 9 hour drives, we split them smartly. A 6 hour day with two proper stops is always easier on kids, parents and drivers.

Real Human Support

You speak to the same person from enquiry to the end of the trip. If something shifts on the road, one WhatsApp or call is all it takes.

Best Time to Visit Spiti Valley with Family

The honest answer depends on what kind of trip your family is comfortable with.

Mid May to June

The first good window of the year. Lower route snow has cleared, weather is pleasant, days are long. The Manali to Kaza side may still be closed in mid May, so most family trips in this window enter from Shimla and return the same way.

July and August

The full circuit is usually open and Chandratal is accessible. However, monsoon affects parts of the Manali side with landslides and sudden road blocks. Families travelling in these months should always keep a buffer day.

September to Mid October

This is what we recommend most for families. Clear skies, comfortable daytime temperatures, very low rainfall, and the full circuit is usually in good shape. Kids and elders handle this window the best.

Late October to April

Extreme cold, frozen stretches, limited road access, very few stays operational. Not suitable for family travel, especially with children or senior citizens.

Recommended Family Friendly Itinerary Options

Short Family Trip (6N/7D)

Best when your leaves are limited but you still want the real heart of Spiti. We enter from Shimla, cover Kalpa, Tabo, Kaza and key villages like Langza and Kibber, then return the same route. No Kunzum Pass, no rushed high altitude crossings. Gentler on first time travellers and a safer choice for senior parents.

Classic Family Circuit (8N/9D)

The complete Spiti loop at a family friendly pace. Enter through Shimla, exit through Manali. Covers the Kinnaur stretch, all the Kaza region villages, Pin Valley, and the Kunzum crossing. Ideal when your group is reasonably fit for one high altitude drive day and your travel dates fall in the right season.

Comfort First Private Family Trip (10N/11 D)

For families who want to travel properly, not tick boxes. Extra rest days in Kalpa and Kaza, flexible sightseeing, the option to add Chandratal, and the best available stays through the route. Suits multi generation families and anyone who hates rushed road trips.

Best Places to Visit on a Family Trip to Spiti

Kaza

The base town of Spiti Valley. Proper stays, attached washrooms, hot home style meals, mobile network, and a chance to rest before short day trips to surrounding villages. Most families spend two nights here, which we strongly recommend.

Key Monastery

The most iconic monastery in Spiti, and genuinely worth the visit. A short, gentle climb leads your family to an incredible view of the whole valley. Kids enjoy meeting the young monks, elders enjoy the calm.

Langza

The Buddha statue village at roughly 4,400 metres. We keep this a short, high altitude visit rather than a long stay, which is safer for kids and seniors. The fossil finds here are a big hit with children.

Hikkim

Home to the world's highest post office. Your family can actually post a card to themselves from here, which becomes one of those small memories kids talk about for years.

Kibber and Chicham

Kibber is one of the highest motorable villages in the world and has genuinely comfortable stays. The Chicham suspension bridge nearby is an easy family visit with no hiking required, just a quick walk and some very good photos.

Kalpa

Usually your second or third stop on the Shimla side. Apple orchards, Kinner Kailash views, and very comfortable family stays make it a favourite. Perfect for acclimatisation without feeling remote or rough.

Tabo

The 1,000 year old Tabo monastery is a real cultural highlight. Kids find the meditation caves interesting, elders appreciate the history, and the town itself is flat and easy to walk around for seniors.

Pin Valley

A softer, greener landscape compared to the rest of Spiti. A half day drive from Kaza makes it a perfect family outing. You can visit Mudh village, have lunch, and be back the same evening.

Chandratal (Optional Add On)

We only recommend Chandratal for families where kids are roughly 10 years and above, seniors have no serious blood pressure or heart concerns, and travel dates fall between late June and mid September. If those conditions match, we add it. If not, we suggest skipping it and we tell you exactly why.

Is Spiti Valley Family Tour Packages Safe for Travel

Yes, with the right planning. Here is the honest picture about spiti valley family tour packages.

Altitude

Most touristy parts of Spiti sit between 3,200 and 4,500 metres. A well planned itinerary that enters through Shimla gives your body three to four days to adjust before you reach Kaza. Rushed 5 day plans from Manali are not ideal for families because the altitude gain is simply too fast.

Travelling with Children

Kids above roughly 6 years of age manage Spiti very well with the right pacing, the right stays, and shorter driving days. Toddlers and infants are best avoided because diapers, heating, and serious medical help are limited in smaller villages.

Travelling with Senior Citizens

Spiti genuinely suits most fit seniors. If your parents have well controlled blood pressure, no serious heart issues, and can handle full day road journeys, they usually enjoy Spiti more than younger travellers do. A doctor's check before the trip is a good idea. We also carry oxygen support in our cabs as a standard precaution.

Why Gradual Acclimatisation Matters

Altitude sickness is the most common issue on Spiti trips, and it is also the most preventable. A slower route, plenty of water, light meals on high altitude days, and one proper rest day in Kaza handle it for the large majority of families.

This trip suits families who value scenery, culture and quiet, and are okay with clean basic comfort outside Kaza rather than luxury at every stop.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, when planned properly. Families who travel through the Shimla side, keep driving days under 7 hours, and include rest days in Kaza usually have a smooth and memorable trip. It is rushed itineraries that create problems, not Spiti itself.

We recommend 6 years and above. Kids at this age handle altitude well, enjoy the villages, and sit through road days much better. Children below 3 are generally not advised due to altitude, limited medical access, and basic washroom facilities in some villages.

The Shimla route is the safer choice for families because it gives 3 to 4 days for the body to adjust gradually. The Manali side climbs too fast and hits high altitude on day one, which is harder on kids and elders. We usually enter from Shimla and exit through Manali when the full circuit is open.

A proper Spiti Valley family tour packages from Delhi usually needs 7 to 9 nights. Shorter trips feel rushed and increase altitude risk. 8 nights is the sweet spot for most families.

Yes, for seniors with well controlled blood pressure, no serious heart conditions, and the ability to handle full day car journeys. A medical check before travel is sensible. We carry oxygen support on every trip and plan pacing around their comfort

Mid May to early October is the family friendly window. September is usually the best month, with clear skies, open roads and comfortable weather. July and August are green and beautiful but carry some rain related road risk on the Manali side.

Layered clothing including a warm jacket even in summer, sunscreen and sunglasses, personal medicines and a basic first aid kit, comfortable walking shoes, moisturiser and lip balm, and some familiar snacks for the kids. We share a full packing checklist after booking.

Yes, regularly. A Spiti Valley family tour packages from Chandigarh is actually shorter by almost a full day compared to Delhi, because Shimla is much closer. We can pick you up in Chandigarh, or you can join at Shimla, and we drop you back to Chandigarh or Delhi at the end as per your preference.

Absolutely. Every Spiti Valley family tour packages we run is customised. You can change the duration, pace, stay category, sightseeing, and meal style. If your family needs an extra rest day somewhere, we build it in without fuss.

Spiti Valley Family Tour Packages typically start around INR 24,500 per person for a 7 night trip and vary based on group size, season, stay category and vehicle type. Larger families usually get better per person pricing because the cab cost is shared across more members. Share your dates and group size with us and we will send a clear, itemised quote.

Chandratal Tour Packages

There are places in the Himalayas that make you forget your phone exists. Chandratal Lake is one of them. Sitting at over 4,300 metres in the upper reaches of Lahaul, this crescent shaped high altitude lake holds a colour that photographs never quite capture. The water shifts between turquoise, emerald, and deep grey depending on the hour, the clouds, and the wind. Getting here is part of the experience. The roads are raw, the air is thin, and the silence is so complete it almost has weight.

At Spiti Valley Packages, we design Chandratal tour packages that respect the pace this landscape demands. No assembly line itineraries. Every trip is built around real route conditions, proper acclimatisation, and the kind of local knowledge that only comes from over 12 years of working in these mountains.

What Makes a Chandratal Tour So Special

Chandratal is one of those rare Himalayan destinations where the journey and the arrival carry equal weight. The drive through Lahaul Valley, the crossing at Kunzum Pass, the stark beauty of Batal, and the final walk to the lake create a layered experience that builds over days, not hours.

Why Book Your Chandratal Tour Package With Us

Planning a trip to Chandratal is not the same as booking a weekend hill station getaway. The altitude, the road conditions, and the remoteness require a team that genuinely understands the terrain. Here is what sets our Chandratal tour packages apart.
